The United Nations cited the crisis of Nepal’s children as one of its 10 Stories the World Should Hear More About in 2006. Next Generation Nepal (NGN) is working to give those very children a brighter future.

NGN is dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and reuniting trafficked and conflict-displaced Nepalese children with their families.

How are we doing this?

Consider that in Nepal, it is a constant battle to save trafficked children from deplorable and dangerous conditions. Children are kept by traffickers in run-down buildings, half-starved, sleeping on bare mud floors in winter. If they get hurt, nobody will take them to a doctor. Many cannot even write their own name.

Next Generation Nepal is rescuing these children. Right now, twenty six children are living safely with us in Dhaulagiri House, the NGN children’s home in Kathmandu. They are going to school for the first time in their lives.

But rescuing them is not enough. That's why the NGN team is searching remote mountain villages of Nepal on foot to find the families of trafficked children, families who had lost all hope of ever seeing their children again. We are working to reunite these children with their families, safely and responsibly. Already we have found the families of 24 children, and our seach for hundreds more continues.

Still, many children remain at risk. But with your help, we are doing something about it. Take a look at our original NGN Monthly Newsletters to the left to see how together we have made young lives better in Nepal.
